My experience Using Fluent in 3 Months Premium

This was my first time using the Fluent in 3 Months Premium membership and even though I was familiar with a few of the products that are included as a part of it (Speak from Day 1 and The Language Hacking Guide), I wasn’t sure what to expect when joining.

The first thing I noticed when I logged in was the beautiful interface. It really makes using the platform all the more clear and convenient to use and while the content itself far more important than the “looks” of the product, I think that user experience can really affect how we feel overall about the information we receive. The Fluent in 3 Months definitely created a good overall impression, especially as I clicked around, familiarizing myself with the content.

As I browsed each section of the site, I was greeted by an introduction video created by Benny to help me navigate my way and learn about each feature. There’s definitely no mystery or ambiguity in how to use the information included as part of Premium and that was definitely something that I appreciated.

I started out with the Speak from Day 1 video course, watching each of the videos and completing the assigned tasks while using the checklist feature to keep track of my progress. The series is geared towards those tackling a new language, so while I’m not a “new” language learner per se, I chose to follow along doing the challenges for Korean, my next language so that I could really experience how to “Speak from Day 1” with a new language.

I also downloaded the conversational connectors for each of the languages that I’m learning and not only did I get a few new useful phrases for my current languages, but I definitely feel like I have a jump start for Korean (when I finally decide to tackle it).

After completing Speak from Day 1, I then dove into his video tutorials and interviews. While there really wasn’t much for me where the tutorials were concerned (that’s to say only at this point, he’ll be adding more in the future), I enjoyed listening to each of the interviews. There was definitely something new to take away from each of them.

Finally, I got my notes ready for the immersion portion of the membership. This section, especially if you’re learning multiple languages, is so worth the membership fee on its own. There is just so much great stuff here.

What I Liked About Fluent in 3 Months Premium

The effectiveness of the “language hacks” that are offered within Premium // I don’t want to give away any of Benny’s content, but there were quite a few tips that are things that I just wouldn’t think of on my own that really make the learning process that much more efficient.

The course has a checklist feature as part of each section to help you keep track of where you’re at as you progress through the course. // I love checklists. There is just something oh-so-satisfying about marking tasks as done and so I really like that you can keep track of your progress within Premium itself.

The wide variety of language-specific resources included. // When we first start a language, we can spend a lot of time researching resources and books that align with our learning styles. Each of the resources are organized by what they’ll help you accomplish so you can really focus on the aspects of language learning that interest you (or that you need to work on).

What I Thought Could Be Better

The number of languages a few of the different resources are available for. // The various sections of the course have specific language resources to help you get started, but the number of languages available vary from section to section. Some languages have more tools to work with than others, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Premium is any less useful for you if you’re learning a language with few (or no) linked resources. You can always use the languages available as a guide to help create your own resources.
