14 Things to Do at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore
My name is Shannon Kennedy and I'm the language lover,…
From Marina Bay in Singapore, there’s one building in particular that catches the eyes of visitors – the Marina Bay Sands. Three buildings connected by a ship-shaped pool and dining area at the top, this hotel is often #1 on visitors lists when they visit the city.
But the gorgeous infinity pool and exotic drinks aren’t the only reasons to visit the hotel. Here are x things that you can do at the Marina Bay Sands.
1. Enjoy a traditional Singaporean breakfast in the food court.
Kaya toast is a delicious Singaporean breakfast made up of buttered toast with kaya jam (a sweet coconut-concoction), soft-boiled egg mixed with soy sauce, and coffee or tea.
2. Wander the shopping center.
The Shoppes range from high fashion to convenience (there’s a 7-11 in the mall).
3. Jump on the metro.
The Marina Bay Sands conveniently has a metro stop within its underground shopping center, so you can skip the heat by jumping on and off the metro within the hotel property.
4. Spend some time at the casino.
With nearly 2,500 slot machines, three levels of gaming spaces, and table games, the Marina Bay Sands has a lot to offer those looking to relax with a little bit of gambling. The casino also offers more than 35 private gaming rooms.
5. Attend a convention or event.
The Marina Bay Sands has a wide variety of meeting rooms, exhibition halls, ballrooms, business centers, hospitality suites, and other venues available for business events, weddings, or special occasions.
6. Enjoy a room with a view.
The hotel brags a variety of amazing views, several of which can be enjoyed from the air-conditioned privacy of your hotel room. The different views are the: Garden View, Harbor View, City View or Sky View.
7. Visit the ArtScience Museum.
Shaped like a lotus flower, this museum is known as the “welcoming hand of Singapore.” It has 21 exhibits and a structure that collects rainwater during the day (that is recycled into the restrooms) and puts on a laser light show at night.
8. Dine at a Celebrity Chef Restaurant.
The Marina Bay Sands SkyWalk (the 1-hectare roof terrace where the pool is located) includes not one, but two celebrity chef restaurants – Sky on 57 from Justin Quek and Spago from Wolfgang Puck. The Shoppes are also the home to several more celebrity chef restaurants with names including Mario Batali, Gordon Ramsey, Tetsuya Wakuda, and more.
9. Take a sampan ride in the canal in the Shoppes.
Similar to the gondola rides at the Venetian in Las Vegas, the Marina Bay Sands offers sanpan rides in the canal that runs through the Shoppes.
10. Dance the night away at one of several nightclubs.
The Marina Bay Sands hosts several nightclubs – one of which is a part of the SkyWalk. Your choices include Pangaea, Avalon and Ce La Vie.
11. Attend the theater.
The Marina Bay Sands has two theaters – the Sands Theater and the Grand Theater. They have put on shows including The Lion King, Wicked and Cirque Éloise.
12. Enjoy the spa and fitness club.
The hotel boasts an excellent fitness club accessible to guests as well as a spa.
13. Find yourself in awe over the 365-degree views of the city from the observation deck.
From Hotel Tower 3, you can access the observation deck and enjoy panoramic views of Singapore for around $23 Singapore dollars (free entry for hotel guests). The deck is at the “nose” of the ship.
14. Lounge at the pool.
And of course, the Marina Bay Sands wouldn’t be the Marina Bay Sands without mention of its infinity pool.
