Wangfujing Night Market | Beijing, China

As I’ve mentioned before, I am a huge fan of street foods, and so, I couldn’t miss out on a trip to one of the most famous street food spots in Beijing – the Wangfujing Night Market.

The Wangfujing Night Market is located in the Dongcheng district and it’s both a popular tourist hotspot and a local hangout. The Wangfujing snack street hosts a variety of food stalls that offer both exotic and popular snacks. You’ll find everything from dumplings to fried starfish, stinky tofu to scorpions (still alive and wiggling on sticks!), and tanghulu to seahorses.

A lot of it is on offer because of the tourist draw, but there are still quite a few tasty items you’ll find as you wander the hutongs and indulge in Beijing snacks.

I wasn’t daring enough to try any of the exotic items available, but I did enjoy a peanut cake, steamed buns, and tofu. And everything I had was insanely delicious. Honestly, the hardest part about visiting the market was choosing what I’d eat only because I couldn’t eat everything I wanted (I was too full after a few plates).

Of course, when it comes to street foods, there is always the fear that you don’t know what you’re really getting or how long it’s been sitting out. So just be smart about where you choose to eat – pick stalls that have a lot of traffic and don’t be any more adventurous than you’re comfortable with being.
