TUO Travel Undergarment Organizer Review Travel

After years of pretty regular travel, I have my system for packing down. Organization is my thing. Especially when it comes to physical space and packing can be a pretty enjoyable process for me (as long as I’m sure of everything I need to bring).

But there’s always one part of packing that I’ve been a bit unsure of, and that’s how to organize my more delicate items such as socks and undergarments.

Up until about a month ago, my go to method was to just use Ziploc bags to organize and protect everything, hiding them away in an interior side pocket (yes, hiding, I’ve had undergarments stolen out of my suitcase before). But they were always a pain to get to whenever I arrived somewhere where I wouldn’t stay long enough to unpack my suitcase.

I knew that there were likely better options out there, but most of those that I found either took up too much space or weren’t really my style. That is, until my recent discovery of TUO.

The TUO Undergarment Organizer Review

The TUO Undergarment Organizer is made with the organized traveler in mind. It’s beautifully compact design includes three mesh zipper pockets and six interior elastic pockets to give you multiple storage options. The bags come in black, white, or three different prints and they all come with a black, two-pocket laundry bag.

TUO has a detachable snap handle so you can hang it quite literally anywhere for easy access to the items you’ve stored. I absolutely love this feature because it makes it easy to carry around for convenient use.

The fabric is nylon and water resistant, so you don’t have to worry about keeping it in humid environments like the hotel bathroom.

Even though it’s meant for undergarments, my first instinct was to take advantage of all the pockets and organization the bag offers for other things. It would be quite practical for storing items like cables, portable hard drives, or my iPod and so on for when I travel or when I am heading into the studio to record (or even for gigs).

I also think it’s quite handy for when I have photoshoots. I can store my jewelry, makeup, stockings, and other accessories in the various pockets. I don’t have to throw them into a big bag or box and untangle them when I arrive. It’s really quite useful!

After spending time using TUO, my thoughts are:

Things that I like:

  • TUO is so much more practical for storing socks and undergarments than Ziploc bags.
  • Pockets – I seriously love pockets and almost anything with tons of pockets for organization is a win in my book.
  • Doesn’t just have to be used for undergarments.
  • The large pockets are mesh, so you can easily see what is stored in each segment (no digging around!).

Things that I didn’t like:

  • The bag, while not huge, still takes up a pretty significant amount of suitcase space, so if you’re looking for a truly compact way to store things, this might not be it. It measures 13.5″L x 11″W x 0.65”H.

I definitely look forward to using TUO more in the future for a variety of uses when I’m out and about. That is, if I manage to keep it for myself! I’ve already caught M eyeing it enviously and I wouldn’t be surprised if he snags it from me sometime in the near future.

Some interesting tidbits about Origami Unicorn (the makers of TUO):

  • They are based in San Francisco, CA.
  • They got their start with an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign.

  • I’m a pretty basic packer, rolling and folding, but I do try to use old single pocket toiletry bags for my shoes to keep them from getting stuff messy…plus then you can pack on top or underneath them with no fuss

    • That’s a good idea. It’d be much nicer looking than the plastic grocery bags I use to pack my shoes! (But I also use those bags to put in dirty laundry to keep it separate from my clean clothes too).
